Didn't Michael Emerson say his most recent interview with the Comic News Insider podcast that Jacob isn't the smoke monster?

What I find interesting is the "Blackness" of the appearances to our LOSTies. To Eko - his brother - dressed in his Catholic priests's outfit. Kate's horse, jack's father in his black burial suit - Walt in very dark clothes while he spoke backward to Shannon and dribbled water. It could also be that - in Jacob's mind - he equated those of Afican descent with "Black".

All of this is something of a theory that I am working on for a story I am writing having to do with LOST. We'll see where it goes

Has anyone ever heard this theory?
the smoke monster isn't anyone. it's is it's own being or something. It seems that everyone thinks the smoke monster has to be someone, I think it's just your normal everyday smoke monster. lol

As for Dave - Hurley's "friend" - I don't think he was a manifestation of the Smoke Monster - I thnk he existed the same way he existed when Hurley was in the hospital - solely in Hurley's mind. Remembe Dave showed up at a very emotional time in Hurley's life and I think he had kind of a "relapse" of his mental illness.

The only problem with this is that Richards actor, Nestor Carbonell, may not be coming back for season 4. I doubt TPTB would set something up like this knowing that the actor may not come back.

Of course, they do have questions surrounding him that we want answered but they have set it up so that they can answer these without Richard actually being there. But his mysterious disappearance, now that's a different story.

Believe me though, I'd love if he stayed on. He certainly was one of the best new characters introduced last season.
