It's true. Its Ausiello for goodness sakes. He's highly reliable.
I don't think they mean its literally a whole flashback. Its obviously an exaggeration.

One big Desmond flashback would be absolutely awesome. I think that would answer a crapload of questions, and plus Desmond is the coolest character on the show.

yeah if they are going to make a lot of flashbacks for desmond the MOST they are going to do is 30min. and maybe not even that much!
