I think the lack of ring is being made into too much of a big deal. My mother and father celebrate their 30th wedding anniversary this week and my Dad never wears his ring. He works with his hands a lot, and it'd get ruined if he always wore it.

Yes but i reckon if the lost writers wanted us to think he wasnt an other he would have a ring
But you see they could he doing that to make us think hes an other, so i agree with you to some extent, that i wouldnt base my opinion on that alone
but that look he gave and the fact that he couldnt remember the stuff about burying his wife

I do think that he is an Other, but I seriously think the fans are putting too much weight on that little look he gave at the end of the episode. Somehow, I doubt that the writers or directors went up to Michael Emerson and said "Give Sayid and Jack this freakishly creepy evil looking look that makes it seem as if you're an Other at the end of the episode, k?" And besides. He was beat the hell up. Even if he wasn't glaring at people, he'd look really creepy, and if you're inside the hatch and your tormentor just walked out you'd be fuming with anger and humiliation so you're probably gonna follow him with your eyes. What'd you expect him to do, stare at a wall and cry? Eh. I'm probably the only one who thinks everyone's making that look into way too big of a deal. I can't make a screenshot of the episode on my PC, but I cán tell you that the look Gale gives Sayid when the door closes is nót the look of a guy who is scared and about to cry. So, Sunan, I think we are bound to make a big deal out of this look. The music swells up, and then the camera goes from Sayid to Gale. First from far off, which makes Gale look a little bit creepy. Then it zooms in, and you see the look on Gale's face. As I said, not a look a normal person would give someone who tortured him. That look alone is of course not enough proof to make him an Other, but it seems to me like Gale is not putting up with this. I think Sayid will have to watch his back once this Gale gets out, if he gets out.

Ever since Carlton and Damon said Gale was telling the truth, I thought he was telling the truth.
Something like 9min 15, to 9 min 45 of the official Lost podcast.

I don't agree, evilgus. We've seen the balloon, but I think they let us see the balloon as a cliffhanger or something, but the episode after that it turns out the losties have trusted Gale when he was not to be trusted. Something like that. They wouldn't have put the emphasis on the look he gave Sayid if he was telling the truth, in my opinion.

You can only exalt/smite people once an hour or so.
As far as the balloon goes, it doesn't necessarily prove anything. It could just as easily have been planted there, or perhaps Gale had taken the story from someone else who had crashed there. The possibilities are (almost) endless. Also, Lindelof and Cuse didn't confirm that he was an Other. They just said that the possibility that he may in fact be telling the truth is going to become a bigger deal, or something along those lines.

even after seeing the balloon I still think hes lying Ithink the balloon belonged to the 2 people who lived in the caves and the guy in the hatch knew about the balloon and used it to take on a false identity

Mean? I suppose it depends which way you're looking at it from. The information was leaked and he was responsible for it, even though he might have been manipulated a tad. He might be making an effort to try and wrap this up, but there is no way this information can be contained at all. Dozens of LOST forums are reporting this same news, and some of them are taking them down sure, but that is only but a tiny dent in the flow of traffic. Even if this topic were to be taken down, it wouldn't make a significant change in who finds out and who doesn't.
Anywho, its still a spoiler and this board is specifically designated for spoilers. A spoiler is a spoiler is a spoiler, despite how it came to be. If people object to this so much, then I guess I can ask an administrator to remove it, but seriously. The kid was sworn to secrecy and he still let it out. From what I understand someone else manipulated it out of him, but that doesn't make him any less at fault and the damage has been done.
