Honestly, I'd love to have a nice PHP based forum because they are so much sleek and sexier. Aesthetics aside, they really a more efficient bored and well worth the transition. I can understand why people wouldn't want to do the switch, and I suppose it makes sense, since a message board is indeed just a message board. But as I said. I'd definitely go for a switch if possible.
If it's a matter of nostalgia or just the nice history we've got here (even though I've only been here for a month or so), all you would need to do is leave a link here from the new boards. That way, it would still be here for future reference and whatnot, and it technically wouldn't have been put to waste. I'm pretty sure ProBoards doesn't delete accounts due to inactivity, being that I dug up a ProBoards board I made three years on Google just a couple months ago. Man. That was the coolest feeling ever...

I can understand why people want to stay; I';ve only been on the boards a couple of weeks, and it feels like home. It's the quality of the content that makes these boards; the members.

Re the old/new forum....
I am pretty resistant to change, so I vote for keeping this board. But if you guys decide that Change is Good and phpbb is the Voice of the Future, well, I'll go along with it.

On the other hand, I have no doubt the popularity of the site/podcast is going to *explode*, and if the new boards will make it more managable, it might be a good idea to switch sooner rather than later.

I say keep the old forum, but open a new one for testing. If more people switch over to the phpbb forum, keep that, but if people stay here, keep this. Trial and Error, man, T&E.

Hmmm, everyone is making valid points. Honestly, I'm along for the ride on this one. Where ever you guys want to go, I'll follow along.

Now see that is a question that i was going to leave up to you guys. With our new domain and all that jazz we can put up a nice new phpbb forum, but we would lose all of this. I think anyway. So its up to you if we switch locations. I am perfectly happy with this forum.(going to change the color scheme a bit though) So its up to you. and the MP3 feed is now on the new site I would vote, if this were a democracy, for anything that allowed you to subscribe to a thread. I know vBulletin does this. I don't know about phpbb.

I'm for either. If we left this place, we'd just have a nice new home with the same folks, but to me there's nothing wrong with the old one.
Change just for change's sake isn't necessarily my favorite either, but it would seem to make sense with the new URL. Especially if you're trying to attract all those untold millions of new users! ;D

Change is good, as long as we're all still here, I don't mind...

I vote move, I mean, I won't leave if we don't, but this board is kind of ugly, and I think it would be cool to be on a sweet new board. Or maybe, I would like to have the same amount of post as most of you all, at least for a day or too. *looks at his tiny amount of post*
