Great show. Paul's analysis was really good. Loved the crackpot theory about Desmond and Jack. Thanks guys!

Another great show! Keep up the good work!
I just wanted to make a mini-comment about Paul's mention of the DeGroots being doctoral candidates and not doctors. Being a candidate (as I am at the moment) just means that you haven't finished yet. It shouldn't imply that they didn't or couldn't finish, just that they were still lowly grad students at the time of Dharma's inception.

Being a candidate (as I am at the moment) just means that you haven't finished yet. It shouldn't imply that they didn't or couldn't finish, just that they were still lowly grad students at the time of Dharma's inception. That is how I figured it. My point was that ten years later, when the film was made, they were still being referred to as candidates. If they had finished by 1980, I would have expected them to have been referred to as doctors. Yes, it could be nothing. But having them be expelled is simply more interesting. I've never studied at Doctoral level, but ten years seems a long time for them to still be candidates.

Jeremiah Glatfelter sounds like one of those names you see on holocaust memorials.
