Guys - you gotta understand - Jay and Jack are doing the Wednesday/Thursday right after watching the episode. I mean can any of you truly say that you got every word and nuance of every episode right after watching it once? I know I can't - and I doubt many can.

Jay was never into grunge? How old is he? 16? I am also Jay's age and I knew there is grunge but I was never into it. Why should everyone who's not 16 have been into grunge??

Nirvana transcends Grunge; get their Unplugged in New York album and give it a whirl. Rage meets soul meets actual melodies.

I agree that people have different tastes and also I wouldn't consider Nirvana grunge music either, they're better than that. What I consider Grunge music is all the other bands that the industry forced on the band wagon just after Nirvana's sudden success in 1991. That's why many of us who grew up in that era barely listen to that genre anymore. The "Man" saturated that movement with as many bands that they could, in order to make up for the void of money after the 80s hair bands got the boot. And sadly, like many great things, once the "Man" got a formula in how to market the grunge movement, it was over.

Well see....I like Grunge but I can't stand Nirvana. I'm not a huge grunge fan, but I like Soundgarden, AIC, Pearl Jam, Temple of the Dog, STP, Mudhoney, Melvins, etc... But just something about Nirvana, I don't like.

I totally agree with you. I'm the same age too. I knew there is grunge and I got a few CD's, but I didn't catch it the first time either, because I never really was that much into grunge and Nirvana.

I knew there is grunge and I got a few CD's, but I didn't catch it the first time either, because I never really was that much into grunge and Nirvana. And rightly so... Why should you like grunge? You were just being born when it came out. I'm not saying that you can't go back and listen to old music and have appreciation for it, but it's harder for people to like music that's not of your generation. What you have to understand about the grunge movement is, that it really wasn't about the music and what it said, it was about a total departure from what music had just came before it. Like the punk movement away from the singer/songwriter movement and disco era of the 70s. People had grown tired of that same old BS hair band pop that the industry was putting out in the late 80s that never really said anything. It was music in its purist form, untouched and unmarketed. Guns n Roses started it, with a sound that didn't really sound polished and then Nirvana came in and blew the 80s away. Not only did Nirvana have a good sound, but alot of their songs actually had good imagary in their lyrics. Don't get me wrong, I've never been a huge Grunge fan myself, mainly because most bands in that era never really said anything. That's why the Beatles have lasted as long as they have, they have great melodies with the lyrics to boot. The same thing is happening again right now. You just watch, the music industry has been putting out the same crap this whole decade with Britney Spears and all that bunch. And now with the whole American Idol craze. Give it a few more years and the backlash will hit and whole new genre will be born. It always happens.
