under blaw's avatar, it says why can't you? When you try it out yourself above in the the "members" section you get this:Due to the size of this forum, we do not allow the use of the View Top Posters function at this time.

It's a much better system than at hyperboards though! At the other board I go to, you can't even get a member list anymore... and we used to be able to check top posters and all of that good stuff. Hyperboards made some "improvements" that I hope proboards never makes. I agree, viewing top posters is always fun, especially when you are one of them, lol! ...but even when you are not, it's interesting to see where you rank in comparison.

Why haven't I seen this before? Didn't know my personal text started a thread. I think after we reached 1000 members, proboards stops calculating top posters becuase it would destroy the servers. And I am willing to bet, that a large percentage of members here, have never posted, or even activated their account. Maybe if they haven't activated there account in a certain period of time, 3-6 months then they could get deleted. But its really no big deal to me, I just miss the feature.

You're so popular Blaw Don't know if I would really care to see the top posters nowadays, I don't think it means as much as anymore.

Yea, back in the day having over 1,000 was very rare. But since there are so many people with alot of posts, it might lose its value.

My favourite part of such a feature is the fact that you can than actually see how many posters have never posted at all... they are all right next to each other. You can also see the separation in posts between the top posters and the average posters.
Here, I'm an average poster, and it's easy to tell by my post count. But am I a top middle poster? What are the join dates of the other people with my post count?
I totally agree that the servers dying is the reason for the search being eliminated... but I also agree that it is the most interesting search to run.

I'm probably the only member who's been here the longest, still posts, and has the lowest post count.

What a popularity contest that would be. It's a fun idea, no doubt... I just don't know if I like the implications of it. It's one thing to rank on post count, but karma is something you can't do anything about... to rank based on it could alienate some people.
On the plus side, maybe if it was ranked like that, people would stop smiting and exalting all willy nilly like, which I keep hearing complaints about.
Hmm...
