Isnt it a giant flea circus backed by a media major to spin a record that isnt even in the making ? The audience thinks its voting, while their votes fill the bank accounts of the production company only.
Here a tiny quiz: 50 c per call , call in winner gets 5000 quid , how many callers before the company is even and what would be a proper estimate of callers ? $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ I like how claudia black commented on the TV market: "90 % buisness and 10% show)
PS: from a professional and personal point of view, the jury is usually more than fair and way to kind. Apart from Anastacia nothing good has ever come from those shows.

I Hate American Idol, it is just horrible, i watched the first two seasons, and then was bored, they need something new, or just end it. They arent very good singers, i think FOX is just milking it for all its worth, that is why it is horrible.
done.

Fox is making millions of $$$$$$$$$$ on the show, if I was making that much money on anything, i'd milk it also.

I am another of the American Idol haters. I extremely dislike it, because all it does is drain the creativity out of our society. I hate that. It takes the creation of more cookie-cutter music artists, and all the while doing that, steals ratings from scripted television shows, thereby getting them cancelled.
Less musical creativity, less written creativity (on TV)... This is just not a good thing. Also, I just plain don't find the show entertaining to watch. More like annoying. hehe.

Contestants DO see Idol as a lottery ticket, or a quick road to fame... however, I get the impression some of you (including Jay) thing winning Idol is easy. Its not. Hundreds of thousands of people try out cross country. They go through rounds and rounds of auditions before they even get to be auditioned for the judges. Then they have to "win America." Then, that one person out of hundreds of thousands, will get a record deal. I definately don't think it's easy - I think many contestants think it will be and they will be rich and famous just because of the exposure. Maybe one or two will - maybe. For the rest, it might be a good experience for them but not quite what they expected. I know that Jennifer Hudson Is one happy Idol contestent after the Golden Globes Last night. Mega talented young lady, and I am glad she got the chance to prove it

I watched it. No one I really think stood out to me as being a front runner. That 16 year old crack baby was good. But not super.

American Idol premieres with record numbersWe all knew Idol was coming back to reclaim the number one spot. But I'm not sure any of us knew just how big the return was going to be. The kick off to the new season of the show averaged 37 million viewers. That is a premiere record for the series. What's even more impressive is that the audience grew throughout the night, going from 31 million up to 41 million. Source

On one hand, I feel guilty for watching AI exploit these pitiful poeple. Then again, if they are stupid enough to go on the show then why not get a chuckle out of it? It's funny to see Paula perk up when a goodlooking juy walks in the room. Her face lights up.

So last night I watched Idol and re-affermed my reason for not watching the show. Most people sound terrible. They suck. They said there was like 8 people who made it though to Hollywood, why didn't they show any of them sing? The other ones were slightly entertaining but why?? . . . how could they possibly think that they could actually sing.

I watched both episodes, and there is not one person that I found really outstanding. There was the one guy that sang Journey and I could not believe that Simon was not going to let him through. I mean come on the guy sounded good singing Journey.
But I was completely disgusted with the way Simon made fun of that guy whose eyes were kind of sticking out. I mean the guy was 23, to Simon he is a kid. You know I understand that these people go on the show, but they try their best, and do something that's not easy. And yes the kid did not sound good. But for Simon who is a 40 year old man to make fun of this kid is disgraceful. I actually wanted to cry for this kid, because he just looked so down. Make fun of his singing, but don't make fun of his appearence. Because I'm sure he has had gone through the teasing a lot in his life. A grown man should not be making fun of him.
Simon needs to grow up, otherwise he will say something to the wrong kid, and that kid will commit suicide.
