Hi Jay! Long time listener of your podcast and I love it! My question is - I know you lived in California and I'm planning to go there for vacation this summer. Can you tell me the most interesting cities? Spots that I definitely shouldn't miss.... I've checked a bunch of websites but there are so many cities in California that it's so confusing... I'd really appreciate some info. Thanks- Connie

In N Out is a must. You also should take a walk down Hollywood Blvd (in the day time!). Universal Studios is awesome, and Universal City Walk (right outside UniStudi) has some really cool stores and great night-life attractions. Check out the Santa Monica Pier. Go to In N Out again. Go to the Laugh Factory on Sunset Blvd. on a tuesday night. Go to the beach (duh)... Visit Big Sur. Sit in a Starbucks in Hollywood, you might see a movie star (I've seen Angelina Jolie and Martin Sheen and that angry pizza guy from Bio-Dome and Fast Times)... And if you really really wanna fit in, you gotta drive about 85mph everywhere you go.
Hope that helped some....

I too travelled to Cali about 8 years ago with my girlfriends. We drove from Barrie, Ontario, Canada all the way to LA, stopping in Vegas and a few other cool places on the way. It was a blast!!! When in LA we spent some time at the beach, which is set in a pretty cool area. There's that famous beach, I forget the name of it now, where you see the outside gym with beefcakes working out, with an outdoor market...very cool. If you go down to Hollywood Blvd, you can see the walk of fame and Mann's Chinese Theatre. If you're interested, you can grab tickets to pretty much any live taping show there. When I went, we saw tapings of Politically Incorrect, Keenan Ivory Wayans Show and Vibe. It was soo much fun. But definately check out Hollywood Blvd. Of course don't miss out on taking a stroll down Rodeo Drive. That was fun. Universal Studios was a blast...I met the cast of Dirty Dancing and got some pics... After that we drove down to coast and stayed a while in Palo Alto (ode to the Grateful Dead), Salinas (ode to John Steinbeck) and eventually to Frisco. Frisco is fabulous, it's where some of my most fav writers come from (Burroughs, Thompson, Karouak....) Visiting Alcatraz was a trip. I hope you have fun on your trip, you'll never forget it....and may all your dreams be California dreams.

I don't remember...probably the taste or something. It was a long time ago, but I remember I didn't want to go back for another
On a side note, I also don't recommend eating what is called a "hamburger" in foreign countries...cause I swear it must have been horsemeat in my "ham"burger in one country
