So I listened to the official Lost Podcast with DL and CC and they mentioned that there will be an online thing revealing more about Lost... and something to the effect of us having to pay attention to what happens between acts...
...uh... like commercials? Cause I don't do commercials.
I'd have to say, they are completely taking advantage of the fact that people are utterly obsessed with the show and will do anything to find out more. Their sponsors will be very happy and might even be paying more for these commercials to air in the Lost time slot.

I doubt it will be the actual commercials, but I bet the Lost guys will be putting in little short 30-second or less "clues" or vignettes in between the commercials. From the sound of what they said they will most likely tie into some online promotions for the show as well, so you'll have to enter in something you see on the TV into a page or go to some page mentioned only on the TV.
This would help make more people both watch through commercial breaks and get more people involved in the larger world of Lost found on-line. Some people will hate it (like my roommates) because they think the show should be completely self contained and nothing outside the show should impact what happens on the show. I think it would be cool to have a more interactive experience (even more so than we have now) where you can learn all sorts of new things by searching around through sites and following clues.
Like those games that connected to the movie AI and the release of Halo 2. The ones where you had to follow the clues all over the internet and be really smart (or be involved in the communities playing along) to figure out how to find the rest of the stories. That would be cool if Lost did this.

Yeah I can't wait for that stuff... I just PRAY that they don't put any product placement in the show like they've done with my former favorite show, Smallville. They've pushed Old Spice Red Zone and Acuvue Contacts. It totally pisses me off when they do that crap.
Boone had a good run in season three of Smallville as a semi-villain. I think he maybe left to do Lost... Too bad he couldnt last even a whole season there either... [Totally off topic]

I used to love smallville, this season they've just started sucking. That Acuvue was weak "I'm blind as a bat, but check out my sweet acuvue! they make me "The Buccaneer" (this is what me and my friends called that lame girl, because of the little belt she sported) man. So lame. On the subject, i wouldn't mind too much if they had commercial stuff, i don't see lost doing product placement, they've worked very hard so far to avoid it (using Dharma products, and other similar invented brands)

I totally agree, firebert. Smallville just started sucking big time this season. I was a die-hard fan. I own all the DVD seasons. Now I'm just over it. There's barely any plot development from show to show.
