So is it just me? or did the writers Build up the Others to be this scary group people that would kill you as soon as look at you. and the we finally meet them face to face and Zeekes all "Build a fire" and "We let you live here" I dont know why but this was really disapointing to me!! Dose any one else feel the same way  or if not please explian why the writers are stupid? |

I'm not dissapointed at all, it seemed very natural, they're a very mysterious group, they've always been very rational and friendly though, even when killing people.

It may be that there are two other groups on the island besides the Fusies, Zeke's 'academic' band and another group, entirely more brutal.

I'm not sure I like what this says about me as a person, but it was pretty gratifying to see Jack beat the snot out of Ethan last year.

I think Zeke and his bunch are absolutely terrifying, dangerous kind of people, the worst kind of people. They seem rational and can carry on a civil conversation. Then when you've built up a little rapport and start to feel like you know where they're coming from and can trust who they are, WHAMO!
It would be much easier for the Losties to deal with predictable, violent people who just attack and don't talk. These guys are like Ted Bundy with an agenda.

Well said. They are willing to rationalize any of their actions in the name of advancing science or whatever their project is. The fact that Zeke had a Nazi weapon made me think - is it possible that the history of this island, with its obvious scientific value, includes German scientists or personnel brought out of Germany after WWWII? Perhaps working in conjunction with American army personnel?

The other's calmness seemed normal for them. They have never showed anger or agression (other than ethan). On the boat they were very calm and collected, just as in the meeting. |

Thats why I agree that there are 2 groups: because Ethan and the "MR. Smily" others are so diffrent.

Yeah, although they weren't "scary" like it seemed they would be, they're still kind of annoying...I mean, the survivors didn't ASK to be crashed on their island or anything.
And I agree that there are two groups of others. It would explain a lot!
