But Daniel's journal mainly seems to contain some math and science figures and then notes on whatever he may have seen and forgotten when he experimented on himself and presumably time-traveled consciously. Even if young Eloise held on to future Dan's journal, I'm sure she couldn't properly decipher it. Either way, by leading his life down a path of science and not music she was helping to achieve his destiny of being shot by her. As he said when he was shot, "You knew this would happen."

What is the explanation for Faraday meeting Desmond in the hatch, and Desmond not remembering it until he is 3 years off the island?

I think the Ms. Hawking knew about Desmond through Daniel's book. In this last season she says that for once she doesn't know what is going to happen.

i agree with mostly all of you, but since hawkings is so called "time-police" then what is the correct titles for Jacob or even Richard? Since they ignore the rules of time and space (Jacob) why doesnt Hawking interfear with those two? And if Desmond is the exception to the predetermined maybe he will be the next immortal person

So I am not sure time police is right. I think there are a set of people that are aware of this ongoing loop, of events happning over and over, possibly with these slight changes each time specifically caused by these "outside time loop" people. So many of the events that seem seridipidous are actually these people influencing events trying to break out of the loop. I don't think these people are necessarily timeless (although Richard and Jacob seem to be). It might be just their consciousness that is being retained through each loop.
My main issue with this theory is that I think it will be hard to act out and explain in a way that makes sense. I hope they keep it simpler.

I think that What Ever Happened Happened is not the case. What I don't understand is how come Des didn't remember Daniel when he tells him to find his mother. I know that you all saw that Des can recognize the flashes. I think that Darlton are once again trying to throw us off the track. Like when they said no Time Travel.
I think that What Ever Happened Happened can be changed but I also think that you can go on another path but your final destination what ever that is just is. You just took another path to get there.
I sure hope they don't land in LAX but maybe some place else in TIME because we saw the whole "WE HAVE TO GO BACK" thing already.

There's another thing to consider: It doesn't appear to be a straight time loop, with the same cast having to repeat over and over. Rather, the island appears to move forward in time, but only a specific set of people can reach it (where, perhaps, they reenact the same scenario). So - we had Danielle's crew, with a pregnant woman, a musician (and weren't there one or two other similarities?), our lost-aways, and then the Ajira 815 recreation, wherein it seemed they had to match the Oceanic core crew as best as possible.
Not sure what it all means, but it seems to be more complicated than a time loop.
