 San Diego County Fires
« Thread Started on Oct 22, 2007, 9:27am »

As some of you might have heard here in San Diego there is massive fire storm with eight fires burning through out the county. There is not much I can say but keep all who are affected by these in your prayers. For any news about it check the major news stations in San Diego:

CBS
NBC
FOX
ABC

Yes in San Diego, Malibu, Canyon Country, Orange County, I can't even name them all. I believe there are 10-12 fires in the Southern California area all burning and many with only 0-10% containment due to the Santa Ana winds that blow from the mountains to the ocean with gusts of 60-100 mph. One of the worst I have seen in 18 years.

We've been kinda close to one of the fires all day long, but we haven't gotten the call yet and it appears that the fire has gotten further away throughout the day. We still have our most important belongings packed up and ready to go if needed though.

Stay safe. I've been through a few that came close, but none of them have been as bad as all the ones going right now.

Ack, I'll hope for the best. Hopefully the winds will die down soon. Stay safe!

There's been a lot of wind + heat in Nor. Cal, luckily no fires.

Yeah, I live just south of Ranch Bernardo. We got the word to evacuate our house yesterday afternoon, so I ended up packing up the cars and driving my family out to Arizona for the week until everything settles (there now). The area our house is in seems to be clear for now - I just heard they are slowly letting people back into that area. Unfortunately, I'm hearing that a number of people I work with have lost homes though.

Some good sources of info for those trying to follow the latest:

JLSK - I am sorry to hear that you had to evacuate but glad that you and your family are safe. Weather-wise it's supposed to continue to get better - less wind starting tonight and lower temps by Thu. That should help the firefighters get a better handle on the fires and start to get them all put down.

JLSK, I sure hope that all stays well with your home, it has been a very scary time for Southern Cal. it's the worst that I have ever seen in all my many years here on earth, the fires just make you feel so helpless and you just pray that it doesn't come your way. I have been hearing sirens a few time tonight and I always look out the door to see if I can see anything and then check one of the TV station to makes sure one hasn't started in our area. So far no family or any of our friends have had to leave their homes because of the fires, and I feel so bad for the over 500,000 that have had to leave theirs, I just hope this will all be over soon and that people can hopefully get back to their homes safe and sound.
