where they talk about the box ... [spoiler]Box is metaphor... Damon says about box metaphor... "cuz i think it'd be silly to walk to the middle of the island and there's like a big refrigerator box sitting there... and kate's horse comes tromping out and sayid's little cat and jack's dad..." "... next time when we revisit this story what happens to locke and ben and mr. cooper who is bound and gagged that we will have a much clearer understanding of whether or not ben was being literal or figurative when he was talking about the box... but like all things on lost you'll have to wait a bit"

so i guess we got our answer that the horse cat and jack's dad are all coming out of the box... and since they alluded to the smoke monster taking other forms (ie: yemi) we can probably assume that the smokey is coming out of the box...

yet they talk first about the fact that i'd be stupid to have a fridge box in the middle of the island... but then go on to say we'll find out if ben's being literal or figurative in his description of the box... so now i'm wondering what form the box will be... i think we can assume that it won't be a literal box... but some type of container... maybe it's jacob's mind? like walt's mind can do things... jacob's mind is the box? where they talk about the sub...

[spoiler]carlton asks "did he really blow it up?"

damon says "i would say it certainly appeared that he blew it up..."

ie: locke didn't blow up the sub[/spoiler]
where they talk about locke's attitude...

[spoiler]carlton says "i think it's fair to say that locke's attitude about the island (ie: roughing it... not 'cheating') and his attitude about ben's sorta seeming disregard for the island will definitely come back into play... and the others are not going to be completely and fully encamped in that place maybe for the entire season...

where they talk about rousseau...
[spoiler]damon says "why doesn't she [rousseau] come running out of the jungle and grab her [alex] and say i'm your mom... let's go run into the jungle together and eat bugs..."

carlton "i think rousseau... any french woman who speaks with a serbian accent who's been living in the woods for 16 yrs eating bugs has got some issues and those issues need to be overcome before she can embrace alex as her daughter... "

damon: "and what would she even say... you know... i'm your real mother... what would you do if some crazy woman with twigs in your hair would come up to you and say i'm your real mother and would you care for a cricket"

they're both "very excited about expose"
carlton says some people may go on some websites and say that they've "jumped the shark" with this episode... and "if they have jumped the shark in this episode it's the best way to do it..."

it will satisfy those people who are like "who are nikki and paolo and why are they on that show?"

damon says "like sawyer?" (interesting?)

carlton says "exactly"

damon: "most of their [nikki and paolo] flashbacks take place on the island... you'll be seeing some of our dearly departed friends"

QUESTIONS SEGMENT

1. what's up with boone's hair being longer in this next episode's flashbacks (expose)?
[spoiler]it's a wig.[/spoiler]

2. now that we've seen a fair amount more of the other's m.o. it seems like charlie being strung up in a tree in season one is fairly out of character for them... is there a particular significance to why that happened?
[spoiler]carlton: "i think that you think it may be out of character now but by the time the finale rolls around you will not think that it's out of character. the others are a lot badder than you might think that they are."[/spoiler]

3. what song did jack play?
[spoiler]original composition written by Michael Giacchino our genius composer... "an original piece that jack wrote... Matthew Fox learned it (doesn't play piano) for the episode.[/spoiler]

4. why in recent episodes when you have introduced interesting characters such as Ms. Klugh and Mikhail Jacob or Patchy do you decide to kill them off again a few episodes later... is this because you don't have backstory for the characters or are you worried about overloading the show too much?
[spoiler]carlton: "i don't think that you'll be disappointed in an upcoming episode when one of the characters you actually mentioned will show up again"
damon: "so they're not dead... one of these facinating characters"
carlton: "maybe not maybe not"
damon: "interesting"

4. are we going to see the vw bus again anytime soon... i've noticed that you've used two now with locke's bug and the bus we found in the jungle... ?
[spoiler]damon: "i think you'll be seeing the bus again"
carlton: "i'm going to make a bolder and audacious revelation right now... which is you will see yet another vw product before the end of the season ON the island"[/spoiler]

5. when sayid is examining rousseau's map he overlays a few pages talking about places on the island... but i noticed the final map shows a small island in the foreground clearly separated from the large island in the background... (carlton says "thank you").. is this really alcatraz island and has this clue gone unnoticed since then?
[spoiler]carlton: "not by you my friend"
damon: "well done chewie837... believe it or not we have known since the very beginning that there was at least one (interesting pause here) smaller island off of the coast of our main island... and rousseau has known about it but she in the grand spirit of 'i leave them alone and they leave me alone as long as they take my baby away from me and i can continue eating twigs and bugs i will stay on the main island and make traps' [/spoiler]

6. i know that you said that ben wasn't intended to last beyond a few episodes but you guys decided to keep him around after seeing how great michael emerson was... that makes me wonder what the original plan was... without ben none of tonight's episodic events would have happened... jack kate and sawyer wouldn't have been captured etc etc... what was the original plan... what is your process for flushing out the details of the larger mythology... i know it involves ping pong but can you go into greater detail?
[spoiler]damon: "as i recall our original plan for our character henry gale was a 3 episode arc. the 1st episode was when sayid captures him in 'one of them' and by the end of the 3rd episode when he sends charlie and ana lucia running off to find the balloon he was going to escape (carlton says "correct") and run off to the other's camp... and that was going to insulate us if we wanted him to be the leader of the others it would have kept in play everything that we wanted to do... it was always planned that michael was going to come back and kill a couple of our people... and it was going to be a frame job on the others... but we kept him around... michael emerson was so good we extended the arc to coincide with michael's arrival back and we killed 2 birds with 1 stone so that the escape happened at the same time libby and ana lucia were killed.
carlton: "right and honestly if emerson hadn't been great... if we had an actor in that part that hadn't worked out we could have still done the same stories... we would have had another character established among the others who would have fulfilled the same functions captured our characters you know and the storyline would have continued there would always have been a leader of the others but that was a back door escape hatch... i think it was always our intention and the reason we went to great lenghts in selecting michael emerson and we really basically damon and i sat over breakfast one morning thinking about who are some actors who would really be good as this guy... it was always our intention that if he was as good as we hoped that he would be in the part that that would be the cool reveal that our guys had captured the leader of the others they had him in their captivity right under their noses was the guy who was their greatest nemisis and advesary and then he would escape... the variable became well emerson is so good and compelling that we were like we could write some other stuff for him
damon: "cuz we were thinking no matter how good he is we can't keep him locked in a room for essentially 5 episodes... and then 'lockdown' came along and it was the perfect opportunity... originally the idea for that episode was we knew they were going to do a lockdown cuz michael... when we designed the hatch we had the blast doors built in and michael points it out several episodes before he even runs off but the reality is we had always planned that lockdown was going to be a locke/jack or locke/eko episode... then we decided to keep ben around henry at the time we felt like that's who locke's gotta be trapped in there with... the story began to morph around our desire to write more for emerson... but we had already come up with the line i think it was in his 3rd episode when he's being questioned after it's revealed that he's an other and they get back he's talks about who the other's leader is and what a great man he is and we wrote it in a way where he could be referring to himself or he could be referring to someone else and i think that question is still very much in play
carlton: "was it a mind game? was he literally dumping this sort of notion of jacob on them?"
damon: "who the hell is jacob?"
carlton: "that is a question that is not going to be answered today"

[spoiler]They say that Expose might be the episode that people will say the show has jumped the shark. Its gonna have to be pretty freaky episode, cause I still haven't figured out what the hell was going on in Flashes Before Your Eyes lol[/spoiler]
